Chikungunya spreads to Penang

Chikungunya disease has spreads to Penang a week later after Kedah reported in Chikungunya disease. A lady confirmed infected of Chikungunya disease.

Ministry of Health said, 3 suspected cases reported in Penang, one of the case is confirmed of Chikungunya infection. Currently the lady is charged in hospistal for further medical inspection and treatment.

Ministry of Health also said, currently Chikungunya in Penang is under control but all people still have to pay more attentions and awareness of this disease. Ministry of Health has assigned authority to carry out of mosquitoes fogging and gotong royong on affected areas in Penang.

6 more cases for Chikungunya within two weeks

Six more Chikungunya cases reported within two weeks and the total number has increase to 97 cases in Kedah. All new cases were reported at Kampung Watt Padang Perliang and Kampung Syed Ahmad, both in Pandent district.

There are still 46 people hospitalised and suspect infected with Chikungunya disease. There all warded in 6 hospitals in Kedah. All these 46 people were having symptoms such as joint pain, high fever, fatigue, headache and vomiting.

Chikungunya is the disease transmits by Aedes mosquitoes. Until today, Malaysia has reported more than 4000 Chikungunya cases nationwide.
