Dengue Fever has killed 62 people this year in Malaysia

Speaker form Ministry of Health said, Dengue Fever has increased but Chikungunya is dropped for the pass one week.

Kuala Lumpur is reported 749 cases in total and Kelantan is reported 2 deaths of Dengue Fever. 5 states in Malaysia has increase of Dengue Fever is Perlis (57%), Malacca (36%), Kuala Lumpur and Putra Jaya (34%), Penang (30%) and Kedah (15%).

First 25 weeks in this year has accumulating the total of 24534 cases with 62 deaths of Dengue Fever compare to last year was 20721 cases with 45 deaths. Until 27 June 2009, Malaysia has detected 33 high risk areas where 27 is in Selangor, 1 in Johor, 5 in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. But for Chikungunya cases is dropped where only 2836 cases reported compare to last year was 4271.

Dengue Fevers increase drastically in Malaysia

Dengue Fevers have increase drastically in Malaysia. Between 4 to 17 Jan, Malaysia has detected 3211 cases of Dengue Fever with 8 deaths. 63% of Dengue Fever detected at Klang river. This is 112% increase if compare to last year, whereby only 1514 cases with 4 deaths. Due to much of raining day, Ministry of Health needs cooperation from all people to cut down mosquito disease by preventing mosquito breeding start from their home. At the same time, Ministry of Health has appoints contractors to carry on the mosquito fogging at affected and high risk areas. Ministry of Health also allocate 1.7million for all these activities and transmits information through media such as newspaper, health brochure and catalog to increase people awareness of mosquito disease. Other than Selangor, Johor, Penang, Kedah and Sarawak also increase of Dengue Fever for this year.

1600 cases of mosquito disease in 7 days

There are 1600 cases of Dengue Fever and Chikungunya reported within the first 7 days in this year whereby Selangor detected with the most cases. Minister of Health said, most of the mosquito disease detected at residence area, one of the factor for mosquito breeding is due to raining day since last year. He advised to those who have fever have to get doctor treatment immediately. Ministry of Health has carry on mosquito fogging and gotong royong at affected area to control mosquito breeding, on top of that, minister of health also transmits information of mosquito prevention and danger of mosquito disease through media to all people.

Johor blacklisted with Chikungunya Disease

Based on the statistics from Ministry of Health, 2000 people has infected with Chikungunya disease up to September this year and half of the cases are reported in Johor. Ministry of Health believes that, the total of people gets infected might be more than what has reported. One of the farmer, Mr. Tay from Tangkak, Johor who gets Chikungunya infection said, he usually can work more than 10 hours a day but now he only can work 2 hours a day. After he went home from work, he will feel joint pain especially at night until he cannot sleep well. Another former Chikungunya patient, Mr Ong also from Tangkak, Johor said, other than him, his family of four also get infected, now he still cannot walk properly even though he has recovered. Dr. Chua from Hospital Pantai, Malacca said, currently there is no specific treatment or vaccine available to cure Chikungunya disease, although patient has recover, the person will suffer joint pain up to few months or even longer.

Chikungunya has expanded to 6 states in Malaysia

Chikungunya has expanded to Johor, Malacca, N.Sembilan, Perak, Selangor and Pahang. Til today, total case reported for Chikungunya is 3200 cases and for Dengue Fever is 38000 cases up to Oct this year. Ministry of Health has been taking action to control disease infection. Minister of Health said, these two diseases are transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, so to control the disease, we have to prevent mosquitoes breeding. He also said Health authority for all places must always organise 'gotong royong' and 'mosquito fogging' to control mosquito. On top of that, Health authority is organising seminar to bring awareness of mosquito disease and how to prevent mosquito to public. He also stated if anyone gets symptoms like fever has to get doctor treatment immediately.

Chikungunya attacks family in Muar, Johor

Family of five infected with Chikungunya due to drainage problem outside their house in Muar, Johor. Owner of the house said that, Muar Municipal Council has not been cleaning the drain around her house for long time and now causing breeding of mosquitoes. She said her husband, herself and her 3 children gets Chikungunya infection due to this problem. After Ministry of Health aware of this issue, they have arranged 'gotong royong' and 'mosquito fogging' in that area to control the Chikungunya disease. Mr Lee from complaint department of Muar Municipal Council has also arrange cleaning company to clean all the drains to prevent mosquitoes breeding and he also said everyone has responsibility to play a part to do cleaning at their area to prevent mosquitoes breeding.

3 deaths of Dengue Fever in Selangor

Speaker of Ministry of Health said that, last week there are 1071 cases reported with 3 deaths of Dengue Fever, 3 deaths reported in Selangor state. On top of that, 84 cases of Chikungunya also reported at the same time and overall has increase to 3399 cases with no death reported for Chikungunya. For Dengue Fever, cases increase to 103 just in one week when compare to 2 weeks ago statistics. Until today, death of Dengue Fever has increase to 90 cases and overall is 41034 cases for this year.
